SOU’s Mascot: Rocky the Red-Tailed Hawk
Adopted in 1998, the red-tailed hawk is the mascot of the SOU Raiders. In the mythology of the Klamath and Modoc people of the southern Oregon region, the red-tailed hawk served as a totem representing wisdom, courage, and character.
In costumed form, Rocky sports the reddish-brown and black plumage of the red-tailed hawk, a red SOU jersey, and white shorts.
Rocky Auditions
SOU is hiring student employees to be our Rocky for the upcoming 2022-23 school year. No mascot experience is required.
Auditions for Rocky will be held in the Fall. Dates TBA
