LIVE-ON REQUIREMENT

All incoming first-year undergraduate students, within one year of high school graduation, are required to live-on campus for their first year at Southern Oregon University.

Living on-campus for at least your first year is a significant advantage that contributes to your success at Southern Oregon University. You will be part of a community and make connections to other students, faculty, and staff. Living on campus also connects you to services that support you as you transition to college life. Studies show that first-year full-time students living on campus have higher GPAs, stay in school in higher numbers, and graduate faster.

Petitioning the First-Year Live-On Requirement
If you are an incoming first-year student who is looking to petition (requesting an exemption from) the first-year live-on requirement, you will need to complete a petition. You can find the petition located through our InsideSOU account.

Once logged into Inside SOU, navigate to the Online Services area (blue square, generally five down on the right side of the screen), click on the Housing Portal and Application link. Select the 2022 – 2023 Residence Hall Petition.

You will need to upload supplemental documentation to complete this process.
