Concentrations: Clinical Exercise Science, Health Education and Promotion, Health and Physical Education Teaching, Human Performance
Student-centered programs that emphasizes mentorship and collaboration with faculty and peers while gaining skills through classroom and fieldwork. The curriculum is optimized for careers in teaching, fitness, coaching, sport psychology, health promotion, and physical therapy. Students expand their understanding of the body, psyche, skill acquisition, fitness, and the art and science of guiding others in health-related quests.
Offered as a Secondary Discipline Minor
The Health Promotion Minor provides a solid foundation for students to promote healthy behaviors and prevention of disease in individuals and society. This Minor is for students who plan to work in the public health promotion/education fields through local, state, and federal government agencies including schools, community organizations, insurance companies, health and wellness clinics, hospitals and/or the private sector.
Offered as a Secondary Discipline Minor
This minor is intended for those students who plan to pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching with an endorsement to teach Health and Physical Education curriculum in public and private schools. It compliments undergraduate programs, including an Exercise Science major or any major leading to teaching certification.
Offered as a Academic Certification
This Certificate in Sport and Recreation Management will allow students to accent their major degrees with exposure to a program that prepares them to lead and succeed in the fast-paced world of sports, recreation and leisure management. The curriculum challenges students to think critically and creatively while developing abilities that are required for leadership positions in the sports and recreation industry.
