New Student Enrollment!

All newly admitted students are expected to participate in New Student Enrollment programs.

New Student Enrollment programs will help you prepare, ensure your success, and connect you to campus resources. Students admitted for Fall who have submitted their tuition deposit should receive more information and registration details in their email in early April.

Live Registration Labs

(If you missed these events, email advising@sou.edu to schedule an appointment)

When: June 22-June 26

Time: Available at 8am, 12pm, and 4pm daily all week

Where: Keep an eye on your email for a Zoom link! If you don’t receive one, send admissions@sou.edu an email and we will send it to you.

Why: Live Registration Labs are drop-in support for any student who has registration questions related to accepting or changing their faculty-recommended Fall schedule. Sessions start on the hour and end based on student attendance and questions (i.e. if there are lots of students the session may still be going at 8:30am. if there are only a few students the session might end by 8:15am). Students can attend as many Registration Labs as they want.
Raider Social

Raider Socials are geared for first-time freshmen and will provide students and families an opportunity to connect with each other as well as SOU staff and students on campus in Ashland. Participants will be able to tour campus, see the residence halls, meet important SOU staff, and get to know some other new Raiders. These events are a great opportunity to see campus if you haven’t already done so as well as tie up some enrollment process loose ends, if you have any. Transfer students will have transfer specific Raider Social events early in Fall term.

How do I sign up for New Student Enrollment?

The key to unlocking New Student Enrollment access is submitting your tuition deposit.

Events fill quickly! To ensure you can sign up as soon as possible follow the steps below.

Activate your student account
To activate, search your personal email for an email from oktamailer@sou.edu, it will contain instructions for account activation.
Submit your tuition deposit to unlock Advising/Registration access.
Pay online through your application portal.
Check your email account.
After your deposit is paid, your link to access New Student Enrollment will be sent to your email address. For Fall 2026 students, emails will be sent in early April.
Commit to New Student Enrollment.
Respond to your email invitation as soon as possible to reserve a date.

How do I prepare for New Student Enrollment?

It is important that you check your email regularly for information about New Student Enrollment and other Admissions next steps. Make sure to look for messages from admissions@sou.edu.

What will I do at the Raider Social event?

Raider Social will help introduce you to campus, resources, staff, and other SOU students.

Where should I stay while in Ashland?

We recommend making reservations in Ashland or Medford well in advance during the peak summer tourism season. Visit travelashland.com for information about local hotels and lodging.

Can my family attend New Student Enrollment programs?

Yes! We encourage families to attend Raider Socials!

Do I need a math assessment?

Students required to take a math placement exam will be notified prior to New Student Enrollment. For more details, visit the math placement assessment information page.

When is New Student Orientation?

New Student Orientation is offered in the fall. After completing your enrollment you will receive more information from New Student Programs.
