Financial Aid Recipient Eligibility Requirements
Financial aid recipients must meet specific criteria to receive their funds. These criteria are different from the criteria used to award scholarships.
After you receive aid, you are also responsible for successfully completing all the courses you register for and completing your SOU degree in a timely manner. Carefully review the content below as you are responsible for the following information.

- General Eligibility Requirements
Basic requirements to receive federal/state aid. - Satisfactory Academic Progress
Academic requirements to continue to receive aid, including guidelines for GPA, pace, and maximum timeframe. This is reviewed at the end of each term on both a term and cumulative basis. - Enrollment
The number of credit hours you register for can affect your aid. Some require full time enrollment. - Participation Requirements
Requirements for demonstrating class participation if you receive a non-passing grade. If you did not attend a course, your financial aid may be adjusted. - Return of Title IV (Federal) Fund
When you completely withdraw whether you officially withdrew or received non-passing grades and stopped attending, a return of financial aid may be required.

These federal aid programs have limits on the total amount you may receive over time:
- Federal Pell Grant
Equivalent of six academic years - Federal Direct Loan Subsidized
$23,000 - Federal Direct Loan Unsubsidized
$31,000 (dependent undergraduate); $57,500 (independent undergraduate); and $138,500 (graduate and law)
