Parental Contribution
Expected Family Contribution (EFC):
- Amount a family can be expected to contribute toward a student’s college expenses, determined based on your answers on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- If there has been a significant change in your family circumstances, for example, loss of parent/student/spouse’s income, separation or divorce of student/parents, death of parent/spouse, you can complete a Special Consideration form at: sou.studentforms.com
- Beginning Fall 2024, the EFC will no longer be the indicator for financial need and will now be based on the SAI. The SAI will determine student aid eligibility based on the information on the FAFSA.
