By completing Southern Oregon University’s 12-credit badge in Film Business & Management, students demonstrate their ability to develop screen properties, raise production funds, create shooting schedules and budgets, and create marketing plans and festival submission strategies for independently-produced films. Learning Outcomes/Competencies

Develop skills in general production office administration, including effective note-taking, memo-writing, reminder-setting, documentation, and task organization and prioritization. (DCIN 340 & 342)
Plan, launch, and promote an effective crowdfunding campaign to finance a short film. (DCIN 340)

Students who complete the Film Business & Management Micro-Credential will be able to:

• Break-down a script into production elements, use that breakdown to prepare a budget and shooting schedule, write professionally formatted call sheets, and prepare production reports. (DCIN 342)
• Scouting locations and complete permit applications and location agreements. (DCIN 342)
• Conduct market research and track film industry trends, market shifts, and notable innovations, research and plan a festival submission strategy, and conduct industry analysis to create an evidence-supported marketing and distribution strategy and practice promoting films to audiences. (DCIN 340 & 444)
