Environmental Communication Certificate

SOU’s Certificate in Environmental Communication provides learners with the practical skills necessary to communicate topics regarding science, sustainability, and the environment to a public audience. This program serves as a strong foundation for students who aspire to professional roles in environmental communication, such as community outreach, public relations, advocacy, and journalism.

In a world where environmental crises only seem to be increasing, communicating with the public about science and sustainability is more important than ever. This program equips students with the tools they need to strategize, research, and spread knowledge about the environment in local communities and beyond.

The Certificate in Environmental Communication is a 36-credit interdisciplinary program offered by the Communication Department and the Enviornmental Science Department. Designed to serve the needs of learners with a passion for environmentalism and sustainability, the certificate gives students an opportunity to make a difference both inside and outside the classroom.
