Program Preparation
The Certificate in Foundations of Teaching English Language Arts is open to students in all majors, including English, who are interested in teaching English in formal or informal settings.
Degree Roadmap
The Certificate in Foundations of Teaching English Language Arts consists of 32 credits:
- Two lower-division literature courses (four credits each)
- Core course: ENG 301, Introduction to Literary Analysis and Theory (four credits)
- One course in EACH of the following: English grammar, reading pedagogy, writing pedagogy.
- 12 credits of upper-division English electives, which may include a teaching/tutoring practicum.
