Offered as an Academic Certification
This Certificate in Sport and Recreation Management will allow students to accent their major degrees with exposure to a program that prepares them to lead and succeed in the fast-paced world of sports, recreation and leisure management. The curriculum challenges students to think critically and creatively while developing abilities that are required for leadership positions in the sports and recreation industry. Our program emphasizes and provides experiential learning opportunities for a students’ application of concepts and skills in professional settings to enhance learning and development.
Some graduates with this degree go on to work with athletic administrations as Athletic Directors at Universities, professional teams, parks and recreation programs, municipal recreation managers, youth sports coordinators, and more. Students must meet all applicable requirements listed in the Certificate section of this catalog. Students must achieve a 2.5 GPA in credits of Health and/or Physical Education coursework to earn a Certificate in Sport and Recreation Management. All courses must be taken for a letter grade unless instructor permission is obtained.

The Certificate in Sport and Recreation Management is open to both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking students at SOU.
