The Music Industry and Production degree is a robust course of study that features sequences in: Audio & Music Production, Music Theory, Aural Skills, Keyboard Skills, Music Industry, Business, and Economics. Students will have opportunities to gain leading edge experience in: using advanced audio tools, editing and production training, vocational skills, and business acumen. Students will write, produce, teach, arrange and compose for film/video/radio, learn the power of their copyright, create a network of professional colleagues, manage performance venues, and gain experience in merchandising/retail/promotions, and social media – preparing them for all aspects of the music industry.
Students who display a talent in composition, instrumental or vocal production, or any area of music and have the drive and desire to develop their technical abilities are perfect candidates for the Music Industry and Production Studies Degree.
Music students working toward the BA/BS in Music Industry and Production Studies will be instructed in the foundations of musical theory and aural skills through a sequential track of coursework. Students will receive hands on experience and comprehensive professional instruction and guidance. It is desired that students will have complete control over their creative work, learn the power of their copyright, create a network of professional colleagues, and write, produce, teach, arrange compose for film/video/radio, work in merchandising/retail/promotions/social media, manage performance venues, and more – the industry is vast.
In the Capstone project students integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, and outcomes of the collective body of study undertaken during the university experience. The project will be documented in a career-oriented final portfolio.
