On February 2, 2024, the Winter Ecology Eco Adventure took place at Parsnip Lakes and Hyatt Lake (a 45-minute drive from SOU). It was led by Dr. Karen Mager, a professor in the Environmental Science department.

Samara Diab, a 2019 SOU graduate with a BA in English, BA in French, and a minor in Economics, now works as a staff attorney to help advocate for vulnerable members of the Oregon community. Her ambition, perseverance, and passions are evident throughout her work as she demonstrates how the English program can be a launch pad to pursuing careers that can change the world.
