Check In / Check Out Process

Application
You should apply as early as you can but only apply after you have been admitted to SOU and have activated your SOU email account. All students who apply for Student Apartments & Family Housing will be charged a $35 non-refundable application fee when being considered for an apartment. An application fee is not required if there are no available units and you are only being placed on a waiting list.

Check-In Procedure
Upon being accepted for an apartment or house, you will receive a confirmation email in your SOU email account. That email will contain the details of your reservation (full address, move-in costs, required documentation, etc.). Your move-in payment MUST be in the form of a certified check or money order. Failure to provide all required documentation and/or pay your move-in costs on the day of check-in may result in your inability to take possession of the unit.

Check-Out Procedure

The Student Apartments & Family Housing Rental Lease generally runs from July 1 to June 30th each year. Unless you are graduating from SOU, you cannot break your lease without a financial penalty. If you choose to, you may submit the following form to break your lease and be charged an early termination fee of one-and-one-half month’s rent.
