SOU Student Account Holds
Holds are placed on student accounts for various reasons. A collection of common holds are listed below. Select the link to view information about each hold and how to resolve them. Any questions about these or other holds may be directed to the Raider Student Services office.
Academic Advising
Code: AA
Purpose: To ensure students are meeting with their advisors and progressing toward graduation.
Prevents: Registration
To Remove: Make an appointment to meet with your Success Coordinator or Major Advisor. Only advisors can update advising plans and remove advising holds.
Internal Collections
Code: IH
Purpose: To ensure balances on accounts are not 6 months overdue.
Prevents: Registration additions.
To Remove: Pay balances that are over 6 months overdue, or, set up a payment plan with our Collections Department (studentbalances@sou.edu or 541.552.6562)
Measles
Code: MH
Purpose: To ensure compliance with Oregon law requiring students born on or after January 1, 1957 and taking at least 9 credits must show proof of immunity to rubeola (hard measles.)
Prevents: Registration
Process: Complete the Vaccination Form here (must be logged in to SOU account).
New Student Advising
Code: Av
Purpose: To ensure new students are meeting with a Student Success Coordinator to begin developing a plan towards graduation.
Prevents: Registration
To Remove: Meet with a Student Success Coordinator through Academic Advising.
Past Due Balance
A Past Due Balance hold will automatically apply to accounts that have a balance remaining on the account 28 days after the term begins. The first day of the term is the payment due date for the term’s charges and any balance remaining, after anticipated financial aid has been deducted from the total balance due, will incur the hold.
Registration Address Verification Hold
Code: RA
Purpose: To update contact information for students.
Prevents: Nothing
To Remove:
- Go to your Workday account
- Select the Profile icon at the top right of the page
- Select the View Profile option in the dropdown menu, then select “Contact”
- In the new page, select the “Contact” tab and then “Edit”
- You’ll see information cards for Address, Phone, and Email. Select the Pencil Icon to edit any of this information
- Select the Checkmark Icon to save your changes when finished
Returned Check Hold
Code: RC
Purpose: To indicate a check payment made to SOU was deemed non-negotiable by the originating bank (ex. non-sufficient funds, closed account, or incorrect banking information)
Prevents: Nothing
