CMHC Accreditation Information
When choosing a venue for your counseling Masters program, you want to know that the degree meets the highest standards for quality, and will prepare you best for the National Counselor Examination and the State licensure process. These are all qualities of a CACREP-accredited program. The SOU Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program is nationally accredited under the 2016 Standards of the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) as a Clinical Mental Health Counseling program – the gold standard for counselor preparation.
CACREP conducts periodic program reviews that involve an in-depth self-study and assessment by an on-site evaluation team of counselor-education professionals. More information on the accreditation process, the value of accreditation, and the 2016 Standards at CACREP.org.
As part of Southern Oregon University, the CMHC program is also accredited by the Northwest Commission On Colleges and Universities.
