Early Childhood Development courses counting toward the minor are aligned with NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) Personal Preparation Standards listed below. In completing 24 credits for this minor, at least one course must be taken for each standard. Students must meet all applicable requirements listed in the Minors section of this catalog, including the Minor residence requirement.
Students must take one course for each of the preparation standards, which are Promoting Child Development and Learning; Building Family and Community Relationships/Diversity; Observing, Documenting, and Assessing to Support Young Children/Families; Using Developmentally Effective Approaches; Using Content Knowledge to Build Meaningful Curriculum; and Becoming Professional. In addition, students complete 3 practicum credits and 3 elective credits.
