The interdisciplinary Certificate in Spanish & Latinx Studies for Educators is designed for non-degree-seeking students and traditional degree-seeking students who work (or aspire to work) in the field of Education with Spanish speaking students, parents, and community members.
This certificate can be earned as part of the Spanish major, or independently and in conjunction with other areas of study, making it a versatile addition to your academic journey. Educational programs and institutions highly value language and cross-cultural abilities, and a Spanish & Latinx Studies for Educators certificate can help make you a sought after bilingual employee.
Courses include four core classes to develop a strong base of knowledge about Spanish grammar and pronunciation, cultures of the Spanish-speaking world, and how Spanish is learned, as well as three electives furthering students’ knowledge base while developing critical thinking skills in Spanish. One of the three electives, related to the Latinx community in the US, can be taken in another discipline (such as Education, English, or Sociology and Anthropology).
