Summer Term Financial Aid
Summer ‘25 Financial Aid Overview
Students interested in pursuing financial aid for summer must first register for summer courses AND have a completed 2024-2025 FAFSA on file. There is NOT a separate summer financial aid application. If students are determined eligible for summer aid, they will be packaged after registering. One significant change for Summer ‘25 due to recent federal legislation is tied to Pell Grant eligibility and less than half-time enrollment status. Summer ‘25 Pell eligible recipients will now qualify for a Summer Pell grant at less than half-time (6 hours). If a student does not receive an award notification via email and/or if there is no aid showing on their portal, it has been determined they’re not eligible for federal aid during Summer ‘25.
Financial aid for the summer quarters works differently from the standard fall, winter, and spring terms. For Summer ‘25, other than Pell, eligibility is partly based on any remaining financial aid from Fall 2024, Winter 2025, and the Spring 2025 terms. For instance, if a student has borrowed their maximum loan eligibility for the aid year, they are typically not eligible for a summer loan disbursement.
Your financial aid eligibility is based on the 2024-2025 FAFSA and general requirements for financial aid disbursement, included in our terms and conditions. Students cannot use future funds from the 2025-2026 financial aid year to pay for Summer 2025 costs. Unresolved issues on student accounts may prevent summer awarding and if not resolved before your enrollment ceases for the term – you may not be able to utilize financial aid against your account for Summer. It’s very important that all financial aid requirements are resolved and aid disbursed before your classes end or there’s a chance it will be too late to receive that funding.
The 2024-2025 FAFSA must be completed by June 30th, 2025 since the FAFSA closes at this time and there’s no appeal for missing the deadline. Other than Pell, your summer financial aid eligibility is partly based on the remaining aid from Fall 2024, Winter 2025, and Spring 2025 terms. For instance, if a student has borrowed maximum loan eligibility for the aid year, they are typically not eligible for a summer loan disbursement.
