Applying for Non-Degree Seeking Status
Some students may may wish to apply for Non-Degree Seeking status. SOU students classified as Non-Degree Seeking do not turn in official documents, and the application is free, however, there are limitations which should be considered.
Non-Degree Seeking Undergraduate Students
Qualification: A standard high school diploma OR GED
Billing Rate: Undergraduate rate for 100-499 courses, Graduate rate for 500-599 courses
Registration Timetable: See Registration Timetables
Registration Limit: 20 credit hours per term
Eligible to Earn a Degree: No
Financial Aid Eligible: No
Eligible for special tuition rates such as WUE: No
Non-Degree Seeking Graduate Students
Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
Billing Rate: Undergraduate rate for 100-499 courses, Graduate rate for 500-599 courses

Registration Limit: No maximum on credit hours per term
Eligible to Earn a Degree: No
Financial Aid Eligible: No
